Falkner reached for the first Pokeball at his belt, throwing it up in a flurry of red light. Pioo! The large Pokemon released from the Pokeball was a Pidgeot, with a strange coloration, a bit off from normal ones. Falkner's eyes glinted as the bird Pokemon called out, and rested his hand on his head. Ready to go, Spiral? The Pidgeot answered with a soar forward, straight to the entrance of Union Cave. As the Pokemon flew, it was easy to notice why he had been named Spiral.
Falkner jogged after his Pokemon with a smirk on his face. When they were inside the cave, Falkner released another Pokemon, the one he was going to train in the cave. Hoo-hoot came the cry of freedom from one of the most energetic Pokemon in the world. Hoot! The Pokemon squawked as it hobbled forward on its stubby legs, its wings flapping periodically to help it balance. With a laugh, Falkner followed the Pokemon deeper into the ever-darkening cave.
Detani, try out a peck attack! Falkner told his Pokemon, and it instantly dove through the air, its beak straight out, looking sharp as ever. The Pokemon had just learned the attack recently, so Falkner was still trying to get it used to it for his next gym battle against a worthy trainer. Crossing the big sea that separated Kanto from Johto was easier than travelling through a deep and dark cave. Four days had passed since Gisella left Cinnabar Island in order to visit Johto, where Blaine recommended her to go in order to learn a bit more about pokémon and the gym leaders that inhabited the region. She had entered the cave in Route 32 and was now walking towards Route 33. The next stop would be at Violet City. “Mhhh… can you smell that, Ninetales?” She told her most beloved companion. “Ni?” The Fox-like pokémon looked up to her with curiousity. “It’s the scent of a warm and yummy meal nurse Joy and Chansey will prepare for us!” As soon as she spoke about food, Ninetales jumped happily and energetically, already impatient for reaching Violet City.
It was getting darker and darker and it was now more difficult to distinguish the road, reason for why the fire princess decided to take out her Magcargo. “Come out Magcargo!” And she released the creature from its pokéball. The unusual large snail-like lava being gave out a somewhat of a lazy growl. “Really Magcargo, I truly believe you’re getting bigger and bigger with every day that passes by…” Man was that thing big, but well, she liked him exactly for that reason and would never ever change him.
Magcargo understood immediately why his trainer had called him out. The flame on his shell grew bigger, illuminating the space. “Good job, boy.” Gisella congratulated the snail with a soft pat on its shell. The three continued walking through the cave, not really expecting to meet anybody. However, the light growl of what seemed to be a possible pokémon awakened the girl’s curiosity, although she told her companions to stay alert (just for the case). They went closer and closer to it and soon heard more voices and Gisella recognized a human one. Once she turned the corner to the left, a Hoothoot was flying towards her as if attacking her. The flying pokémon seemed to be very surprised and stopped his attack at the right moment.
Gisella blinked twice, a bit taken by surprise. Her Ninetales, however, did not like it when wild pokémon got too close to her trainer and had started growling aggressively. “Ninetales, stop it!” The Ninetales obeyed and stepped backwards, yet continued looking at the Hoothoot with anger. Magcarco did not even change his facial expression. He stood there as if he was day-dreaming, looking lazily at a trainer Gisella had not seen yet.

Falkner's eyes adjusted to the firey light quickly, and looked a bit embarassed that his Hoothoot had almost managed to peck a Ninetails without even meaning to. Oh, sorry, just trying out attacks. Didn't see ya' there... Falkner laughed as his Hoot-hoot came flitting back to him with ecstatic eyes. Hoot-hoo! Its shrill cry was pointed toward the much-largers fox Pokemon, Ninetails as it seemed to say 'hi'.
I'm Falkner. And you are..? He said politely, nodding to the Ninetails' trainer, as he looked over to the Pokemon illuminating the cave with a reddish flare. It was a Magcargo, the evolved form of a Slugma, and it looked even more bored than Spiral, who was just standing beside Falkner. Pidgee. The large Pokemon released a quiet call from its beak to the she-trainer
I see you have two fire-types. Are they your favorite type to train? Falkner asked, trying to make small talk as continued through the cave, figuring she would come too. He knew the way through the cave, as he'd been there many times before, and figured she was just going to head straight through. Hoot! The Hoot-hoot had a fire burning in its eyes as it looked back toward the trainer and its two Pokemon, as if plainly saying, "I want to battle them." Falkner shook his head breifly with a few quiet words Detani, look how strong they are. Don't be stupid. But, of course, that just made the Pokemon want to fight more.
Hoot-hoot! The tiny Pokemon turned into the face of the Ninetails, saying "Let's battle". 279 muse; lame. tag; gisella.[/ul][/blockquote][/blockquote]

The Hoot-hoot flew away back to its trainer. Gisella looked at Ninetales while shaking her head in what seemed to be resignation. “You should socialize more and scare less, Ninetales.” Gisella looked up to look for the little, red-eyed owl when a male voice spoke to her. Magcargo’s flame increased so that the fire princess could see the newcomer better. He was taller than her, but not necessarily older, maybe one or two years, but not more. He had blue hair and two flying pokémon right by his side. “Oh, don’t worry. I should actually apologize for my Ninetales' rude greeting.” She smiled and walked closer to the trainer. She smiled at the Hoot-hoot and patted its head softly. “I'm sorry, sweetie.” Her eyes then travelled back to the boy who introduced himself as Falkner, which made Gisella reveal her name as well. “I’m Gisella and you’re a pretty good detective. Indeed, fire type pokémon are my favourite ones. Nevertheless, I can suppose that you also have a special interest for flying ones, am I right?”
A Hoot-hoot and an enormous Pidgeot. The biggest bird didn’t seem very interested in this meeting, just like Magcargo. The Hoot-hoot, however, seemed to have gained a lot of interest for Ninetales, just as if it wanted to battle the fox. Falkner’s comment made Gisella laugh softly while rubbing her cheek with her index-finger, a light blush on her pale skin. “Thank you! I suppose I should say the same about you, raising a Pidgeot is not easy and yours is pretty imposing.” She was not used to receive compliments from other trainers. Well, this was actually the first time she had left Cinnabar Island after having trained with Blaine. It was her second adventure, but it felt as if it was the first one. “Maybe your Hoot-hoot isn’t wrong at all. Training alone is okay, but he would improve his attacks more if he had a real battle, don’t you think?”
She turned around to face Ninetales and Magcargo and took two pokéballs out of her bag, making the pokémon return to them. “You seem to know this cave well and we are very close to Route 33, would you mind leading me towards the exit?” She rubbed her back-head nervously before continuing speaking. “I’m not good when it comes to read maps or to orientate myself, hehe… What about a battle when we get out? I’d love to help you with your Hoot-hoot’s training!”

Nicee to meet you, Gisella. Falkner let out a throaty laugh as he answered the girls' question. Ahah, indeed, I do favor Flying-types the most. Since, obviously, they are the strongest type. He winked at the last part with a smirk on his face. Falkner laughed when he noticed that Gisella had heard him talking to his Hoot-hoot, which was a compliment to her. Oh, uh, thanks. Actually, Spiral here is pretty strong. He bragged on his Pokemon. Piio! Spiral cawed as he was praised by his owner. Hoot-hoo! Falkner's Hoot-hoot protested: Gisella was obviously right. You're right. Falkner looked at his tiny brown Pokemon and rolled his eyes. Oh, of course I would. Falkner replied, retreating into the direction of the Route 33 exit. You're on, Falkner smirked to her last statement, and his Hoot-hoot looked smug to be Getting its way. They didn’t have much time to talk since the exit was pretty close and the soon got out of the cave. Finally! The girl stretched her arms and looked up into the sky, closing her eyes while the warm sunbeams caressed her skin. She also took a deep breath, as if wanting to get all the air in her lungs and never let go of it. Gisella could feel the atmosphere humid, as if rain had been falling. She then remembered about the guide Blaine gave her before leaving Kanto and took it out of her bag. Aha! It was said that Route 33 used to be a very humid place and that it was a place in which it rained a lot. I wonder if I will find this peace in Violet City as well… She muttered to herself while touching her lower lip with her index finger and adopting a thinking pose.
She then remembered about the kind boy that had got her out of the cave and turned around. She smiled at him while walking back to his side. Thank you, Falkner. She thanked him politely, giving a rush look to his pokémon. The Hoot-hoot did not seem to have forgotten about the fight Gisella had promised him. You say the flying type pokémon are the stronges ones, huh? She looked at him with a smirk drawn on her lips, as if challenging him. I bet my guys would burn their wings in no time. Being a fire type lover, Gisella knew exactly how it was to feel admiration for a favourite type of pokémon and respected other trainer’s tastes.
You are a good trainer, though. She then said, looking once more into the blue sky. Not many pokémon look as happy as yours do. The bound between you is strong, I feel it. She sighed lazily and turned around to face Falkner. Okay, Falkner, let us train! If you want Hoot-hoot’s peck attack to work, you will have to make him practice with a real opponent. Gisella put her hand into her bag after thinking about which pokémon she should call out. Since Hoot-hoot seemed to have shown special interest for Ninetales, the girl decided to call the pokémon out. Niii! Just like her trainer, the fox also took a deep breath and looked into the sky, letting the sun warm her up. After you, little dove. And she winked him an eye.
