HISTORY
Clair was born and raised in Blackthorn City as a member of the Dragon Clan. This wasn't much different from being raised as a normal child, other than that the Dragon Clan had nearly entirely died out; she and her older cousin Lance were two of the few full-blooded Dragon Clan children. This didn't affect her life much. She had a normal life as a child, playing with the other children her age and occasionally visiting her cousin's home in Kanto.
Since she was of the Dragon Clan, naturally she would be given a dragon pokemon as a gift when she was old enough. Clair's first pokemon was a horsea that she was given by the Dragon Clan elder when she was 10 years old. Though not quite a dragon type, Clair was told that it would eventually become one, with proper training. She decided to name the pokemon Canter after the way she seemed to gallop through the water, like a cantering rapidash.
Clair absolutely adored Canter. Every minute she had free she would use to play with and train her. Socializing with others her age was her last priority when she was able to play with her horsea. She was determined to train her enough to become a proper dragon pokemon. To Clair, until then, she wasn't a dragon tamer, and to be a dragon tamer meant everything to her.
In fact, her beloved horsea was the only thing that she loved more than her cousin Lance. At times she acted a bit like a younger sibling pest around him, but she respected him and was proud to have such an excellent dragon pokemon trainer for a cousin.
As time went on, she caught more pokemon. First was a dratini she found while in Dragon Cave when she was 12. He seemed to like her, so she was allowed to capture him. Clair named him Eduard because he was very serious and no-nonsense, and that sounded like a formal name. She then took up the challenge of raising a magikarp after she found one flapping around in the pond when she was in her early teens. She named it Dancer after the way it seemed to dance as it flailed around.
Lance left to explore the region with high hopes of joining the Elite Four when she was 16. By then, her horsea was finally a seadra. Though she missed her cousin, she knew that she would see him again sometime and continued her training. Since Canter was significantly closer to becoming a kingdra, she now started putting more time into training her dratini and magikarp. With her hard work, Dancer became a gyarados a year later, and Eduard a dragonair three years later.
Taking her cousin as an example, Clair left to explore Johto when she turned twenty. She battled many trainers and overcame many challenges in her travels. When she returned to Blackthorn City, she was asked to become the Blackthorn City gym leader, since the previous one was getting ready to retire.
Since then, life has gone on as normal. Clair has won many battles and proven a challenge to all of her opponents. She visits her cousin, who is now the Elite Four Champion of Kanto, when ever she can and trains hard every day. Canter is now a kingdra, though Eduard is only a dragonair due to her focus on getting a kingdra. Clair is happy to be part of the Dragon Clan and is proud of her heritage. All is well- in Blackthorn, at least. Sadly, the same can't be said for Goldenrod City. Clair feels a large amount of empathy for Whitney and doesn't want the same thing to happen to her town. As a result, she probably won't be leaving Blackthorn City unless absolutely necessary.
